For Young PeopleThe College Park Youth Band (CPYB) is for students who have been playing for at least 2 years on their instrument. Instruments are not provided; children are expected to have their own instruments to participate in the ensemble.
CPYB was founded in 2017 to help young band players in grades 6 through 8 to develop their reading and listening skills as well as introduce them to the joys of playing in an ensemble. Band music is chosen to introduce new skills and musical challenges to the players.
Tuition for the year is $300 if paid in full for the fall. Otherwise it is $110 per trimester, refundable upon request until the second rehearsal date of each trimester. The CPYB will provide payment flexibility or financial assistance as necessary to allow every qualified and motivated young musician to participate. You can send your confidential inquiry regarding financial assistance to collegeparkyouthband@gmail.com.
For more information and registration, visit https://sites.google.com/pgcps.org/cpyb/home.
Concerts are usually December, March and June, jointly with the College Park Youth Orchestra. For more information see www.cpyo.net.
College Park Youth Band is a musical enrichment program for band students of all ages from different areas. Wind, brass, and percussion players from public, private, and charter schools as well as those who are home schooled are all welcome!
The conductor is Dr. Sarah Winston (instrumental music teacher at Hollywood and Vansville Elementary Schools)
