Adult Broadway Jazz Intensive was a blast!
Happy, smiling adult Jazz dancers transformed the Old Parish House into the “OzDust Ballroom” for one week this June, led by intrepid and cheerful teacher and choreographer Elta Goldstein.
All six women who took part all in the week-long intensive Jazz dance workshop agreed it was a good physical challenge and tons of fun.
Anne Gardner said of the workshop, “It was a great workout, the choreography was fun, and Elta and all the other dancers were very supportive and affirming. We exercised both minds and bodies, and shared both laughter and our love of dancing together!”
Amy Hansen agreed. “I had a lot of fun, and continued my dance education. Dance is such a different type of brain work for me that I never quite know what is going to happen. I did three-step turns on time, so that’s a win!”
Beth Charbonneau added, “It’s been 30 years since I’ve taken a jazz dance class and this fun week reminded me how much I used to love this. I’m looking forward to more chances to dance again soon.”
“I’m always a perpetual beginner at every dance form,” said CPAE Director Melissa Sites, “but the group made the choreography feel fun and possible, and I had a blast with the fun dance.”
Nicola Netto White said, “If I had to sum up my experience in one line: Dance has been a way for me to express a different side of my personality. Elta choreographed a fun routine and she’s a great teacher! I enjoyed dancing with the other dancers, and look forward to future workshops!”
“The format of a dance intensive was an appealing way to kickstart my summer with fun and exercise,” said jazz aficionado Darelynn Fung. “Elta’s love of Broadway style jazz dance was infectious and brought good energy to the class. The fun comraderie with the other participants was a bonus! The choreography was aerobic and also achievable.”
The class was a hit not only for the dancers but also for teacher Elta Goldstein, who said, “It was a great honor of mine to share the joy of dancing with these talented and enthusiastic dancers. We worked very hard and had a lot of fun. I cannot wait to do it again!”
