Eric Maring, “Mr. M”

Eric Maring, known to his young students as “Mr. M”, is an early childhood music specialist, a performing songwriter, a dance caller, and a multi-instrumentalist. He has traveled far and wide in his musical pursuits – from his home in College Park, MD to Spain, India, Rwanda, and Peru – studying with virtuosos and singing with children and communities all along the way. He holds an M.Ed from University of Maryland and teaches music at five pre-schools in the Washington D.C. area, including the University of Maryland’s Center for Young Children, the National Archives, NASA, and the Levine School of Music’s early-childhood outreach program; he also teaches family music classes at his home studio. In addition, he relishes guiding young musicians in the College Park Youth Music Traditions ensemble, inspiring musicians in the College Park community, and performing regularly with his band Paint Branch Creek.
