Urban Sketching Workshop

Interested in doing art outdoors and capturing the world around you? Join local artist Millie Tansill and experience the global community activity of Urban Sketching. Urban Sketching is a type of plein air outdoor art activity that focuses on quick, observational sketching. There are Urban Sketchers chapters connecting artists worldwide – including one in Washington, DC. Millie will share with you her experience as an urban sketcher, followed by your opportunity to create your own art in downtown College Park! Practitioners use a range of materials, but most common are ink pens, pencils, charcoal, and watercolor. Basic materials including paper, clipboards, pencils, and ballpoint pens will be provided. Participants who are able may also consider bringing a sketch book or specialized paper, fine liner ink pens, charcoal, and/or watercolors. Additionally, sunscreen, water, and a snack are recommended. This is an all-weather art activity, so if it rains, the plan will be to grab a spot in a local business and have a snack while making art.
Email info@cpae.org to reserve your spot.
CPAE welcomes donations for this workshop.
