College Park Chorale

College Park Chorale

The College Park Chorale is off to a great start this semester!  Our theme for this fall is Opera Choruses.  We are singing works by Puccini, Verdi, Gilbert and Sullivan, as well as Bernstein, Gershwin, and some musical theater thrown in for good measure!  This wonderful group welcomes musicians at every level and brings them together to form an amazing choral ensemble.

We are thrilled to announce that we are commissioning a piece of music from Gabriel Ruiz-Bernal for the Chorale to premier at the CPAE community concert in December. Ruiz-Bernal will work with the poetry of Reed Whittemore (1919-2012), twice National Poet Laureate (1964 and 1984), University of Maryland professor, and long-time College Park resident.

Gabriel Ruiz-Bernal  is a composer and professional pianist who has lived in College Park since 2002. He teaches at the Levine School of Music and plays the organ for churches in the DC area, including the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

A true College Park collaboration!
